Glitzy and glamorous 1920s Whiting and Davis evening purse! This gorgeous enamel mesh purse features an art deco clasp painted in alternating white and green. The mesh body of the purse has a floral design consisting of sprigs of white and green flowers swaying playfully on a gold background. The purse has an elongated anchor chain. Although more art deco than art nouveau, the subject matter of the mesh design as well as the color palette of the piece bring to mind the Japonisme-Influenced floral designs of Erté and Aubrey Beardsley, or of James McNeill Whistler's glorious Peacock Room.
